Christmas at Moors Valley (Dec 2019)
Shaun the Sheep, star of the movie Farmageddon, officially started the countdown to Christmas at Moors Valley Country Park and Forest this year with the big Christmas light switch on.
A very special guest officially started the countdown to Christmas at Moors Valley Country Park and Forest this year. Shaun the Sheep, star of his latest movie Farmageddon, switched on the Christmas lights and opened the Christmas Tree Shop, beginning a month long series of fun activities for all the family to enjoy in the run up to the big day.
Shaun the Sheep met visitors after the switch on and was on hand to help those wanting to solve a series of puzzles and adventures along the new 2 kilometre Shaun the Sheep Farmageddon Glow Trail recently opened at Moors Valley.
The Christmas Tree Shop is now open selling a wide range of British grown trees plus Christmas wreaths and many other decorations. Shoppers can pick their perfect tree from a wide range of Norway Spruce, Nordman Fir or Lodgepole Pine trees, and choose from small potted trees to those over 8 foot tall! Trees can be wrapped in compostable netting or visitors can bring an old blanket or sheet with them for the team to wrap their chosen tree in for its journey home. The shop is open every day from 9.30am – 4.30pm until 18 December, and free parking is available with every tree purchased.
Every weekend in December, Moors Valley are hosting a series of special Christmas themed events including festive fun days where there will be a chance to join in with some Christmas crafts, and enjoy festive treats and live music. Families can also take a walk around the Christmas Quiz Trail and test their general knowledge, or join a guided Ranger led Christmas Trundle to find out more about winter wildlife in the forest.
Seasons Restaurant is also joining in the Christmas spirit with a selection of festive treats including roast chestnuts, mulled wine and luxury hot chocolate available on every weekend from the 7 December. Also on offer is the popular festive breakfast menu using locally sources ingredients, and free parking is available for every one pre-booked.
Linda Laker, Forestry England’s Recreation Manager for Dorset, said: “We have officially started the countdown to Christmas at Moors Valley! We have lots of festive fun for all the family to enjoy from picking out their perfect tree, trying some Christmas arts and crafts, and enjoying some very tasty festive treats!”
“We are open every day during the festive season apart from Christmas Day. That makes us a great place to come and enjoy some festive fun in the run up to Christmas or visit us to enjoy the great outdoors and walk off the excesses after the celebrations!”
