Exhibition - A Patchwork of Lost Words
Tuesday 30th April 2019 | 9:00am to 5:00pm
free to view
all ages welcome
A special exhibition of artwork inspired by ‘The Lost Words’ by author Robert Macfarlane and artist Jackie Morris.
Artists of all ages and abilities are invited to donate postcard-sized artwork for display each representing one of the 20 words included in the prize-winning bestseller.
The book began as a response to the removal of everyday nature words, including ‘acorn’, ‘bluebell’ and ‘kingfisher’, from a widely used children’s dictionary, because those words were not being used enough by children to merit inclusion. We hope this exhibition will engage with children and adults alike, to celebrate our varied and beautiful British wildlife and inspire visitors to reconnect with the natural environment.
Following the exhibition the artwork will be sold to raise money for the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds.
All 2 dimensional art forms will be accepted and the images may include text or poetry.
