Ranger Sessions: Feathery fun
The lakes, woods and parkland of Moors Valley are home to a wide variety of resident and visiting birds.
These three activities aim to introduce children to birds, their behaviour and habitat requirements.
What Makes a Bird a Bird?
Looking at different characteristics of birds, and what makes them different from other animals. We will discover why birds have feathers, beaks, lay eggs and how they fly.
Home Sweet Home
An opportunity for children to make their very own nest! Using twigs, mud, straw and anything else they can get their hands on.
Grit and Grub Game
Children will be transformed into different birds and then have to go and find food for themselves. ‘Food’ will be hidden around the area and children must find as much of their own food as possible whilst pretending to be a bird.
