Ranger Led Activities
Throughout the spring and summer months the Rangers offer a range of environmental activities for young people, both during holiday times (see the events section for details) and during term time for schools. All the activities aim to foster a greater appreciation and understanding of our local environment, through enjoyable hands on experiences.
Mega Minibeast get to know some of the creepy crawlies of the woodland and meadow
Water Studies pond dipping discovering life in the pond
Treemendous Trees meet a tree, wiggly wavy and many more activities to get to know trees
Woodland Artists - create wonderful artwork using woodland materials
Woodland Walk - choose from a variety of sensory activities to help you explore our woodland
Feathery Fun fun games and activities to find out all about birds
The Heathland Experience get to know a heathland near you
Mammals - a nightime bat walk or an early morning look at small mammals
Survival Skills try and build a shelter for you and your friends.
Orienteering introductory activities followed by a chance to test yourself on a short orienteering course.
All session are led by the Rangers of the East Dorset Countryside Management Service. Most sessions work on one Ranger to 15 children. Sessions vary in length from 1 hour for an introductory pond dipping session through to 4-5 hours all day orienteering session. Costs vary, but £1.50 per head per hour session is a guide price.

Student projects
If you are planning to carry out a project on Moors Valley then please do let us know. We have some information that we can send out to help you with your studies, you will also need to gain permission from a Ranger before you carry out visitor surveys or any other studies within the park.
