As well as looking after Moors Valley with the Forestry Commission rangers, the East Dorset Countryside Management Service is responsible for 23 other sites in the East Dorset area. The sites cover a range of habitats including heaths, woodlands, grasslands and wetlands and support many rare and endangered plants and animals. More information on the sites can be found on the Dorset For You website
The Countryside Action Group
Volunteers are invited to help look after Moors Valley and the other sites in the East Dorset area. The Countryside Action Group will be meeting on many Sundays and some Thursdays and Saturdays throughout the winter. If you have a few hours to spare, please come along and take part in conserving your local environment. Experience is not necessary, just enthusiasm and a willingness to work outdoors. Full details of the meetings can be found on the events page or please contact the Rangers by phone or email and we will send you a copy of the programme.
How to get involved...
Each workday will start at 10.00am and finish at 3.00pm. If you cannot come for the whole day, come for as long as you can.
What you need to bring...
Suitable outdoor clothing and footwear, waterproofs, packed lunch and lots of enthusiasm.
Tools and gloves are provided along with mugs of tea and biscuits.
Please let us know if you would like to come along.
